Example: an India-born software engineer
Hypothetical scenario: an engineer has an approved employment-based immigrant petition and is waiting for a U.S. immigrant visa number. She is considering Argentine citizenship for a future place to live if her U.S. plans change.
A new passport does not normally change employment-based visa chargeability. The State Department explains that numerical chargeability is ordinarily based on birthplace, with specified exceptions. Foreign naturalization does not by itself erase an India-based queue.

Original nationality can be a major tradeoff
An Indian citizen should not assume that Argentine naturalization means retaining Indian citizenship. India does not permit simultaneous Indian and foreign citizenship. OCI is a separate status, not Indian citizenship, and eligibility requires its own assessment.
That issue can outweigh a passport's advertised travel access. Other nationalities also require their own analysis; nationality rules cannot be inferred from Argentina's position alone.
Keep the contingency plan practical
Assess the household's finances, relocation preferences and ability to use an Argentina option if approved. Coordinate Argentine advice with U.S. immigration counsel and, where relevant, advice on the original nationality.
